Church Mass for 150th Anniversary of Napoleon III Death

Yesterday was the 150th anniversary of the passing of Emperor Napoleon III (nephew of Napoleon I) who died during his exile in England. While he is still buried there, "Les Amis de Napoléon III" - a French historical society maintain his memory and legacy alive.

I attended the requiem mass that was held last night in his honour at Saint-Augustin Church which he had actually commissioned. It was a beautiful and very moving ceremony! It is always heart warming to mingle with people who have a genuine passion for history and are dedicated to passing it on.

Eminent historian David Chanteranne was there, always a friendly and courteous gentleman ; the Prince Yoachim Murat (descendant of Napoleon's Marshall of the same name) and a lovely couple dressed as Napoleon III and his wife Eugenie who kindly posed for the photo.
