Ernest-Marie Herscher

Ernest-Marie Herscher started his career as an architect, training with Charles Girault (who designed the Petit Palais and oversaw the Grand Palais) and received his architect degree in 1898, right during the emergence of the Art Nouveau movement.

Herscher designed two buildings in this style of architecture which are worth seeing, specially the one located at 39, rue Scheffer in Paris. That building was completed in 1911.

While the building is imposing, see how the rounded edges of the window openings soften the façade. I also love how each bow-window is crowned by its own "umbrella" like rooftop. How would you like to live at the 🍸top floor?
