Henri Sauvage - Studio Building

This building may not appear so beautiful in the photos, but in person, it is a very interesting sight! And honestly, it is quite an oddity in the Paris landscape!

This is the work of Architect Henri Sauvage who passed away on 21 March 1932 and was one of these architects who thought outside the box and that's what I like about it!

The building can be seen during my Art Nouveau Architecture Walk as it is on my route, even though the design does not qualify as part of that movement. It was built in 1927, during the Art Déco period, yet, I would not describe it as such either!

So what on earth is it? It is Henri Sauvage style! The man defined his own style and one of his trademarks was to cover up his buildings with ceramic tiles. He had called this one the "Studio Building" as a tribute to a New York architect who had named an East Village building that way.
