Napoleon - 1801 Luneville Peace Treaty

In 1797, young general Bonaparte signed the Campo Formio peace treaty with Austria, ending the war between Revolutionary France and the 1st coalition of European monarchies.

But these monarchies still didn't want the ideas of Liberty and Equality to spread to their kingdoms so it didn't take them long to fight again to reclaim the territories that had just been ceded to France, or set up as "Sister Republics".

So General Bonaparte and General Moreau got back on their horses and defeated the 2nd coalition of European monarchies. On 9 February 1801, the treaty of Luneville was signed. Territories that were gained or occupied gave France natural borders. This had been the longtime dream of French monarchs.
