Night of Varennes / Flight to Varennes

The Night of Varennes is the night King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette tried to escape from Paris! But on 21 June 1791, the planets did not line up for them! If anything can go wrong, it will, and so many things did that night for them.

First Marie-Antoinette could not find her way out of the Louvre Palace area as back then, Paris was a labyrinth of narrow and poorly lit up streets. More mistakes will cause more delay and that will prove to be fatal as the route was planned without leaving much margin for error...

Crucial rendez-vous were missed with various supporters that would have provided help and escort along the way. Had everything gone according to plan, maybe the King and Queen could have saved their lives. But what would have happened to the National Assembly is another matter...
