Parc Monceau

Here's a bit of heaven in Paris: the gorgeous "Parc Monceau"! It is located in the chic part of the 17th arrondissement and while it is rather small (circumference is 1 kilometer, that's 0,62 Miles), it is packed with plenty of beautiful surprises!

As opposed to traditional French gardens which are all about symetry and displying the hand of man sculpting nature, this parc was conceived as what they used to call a "folie"! The key word is "natural disorder" and a composition of decorative elements that might not belong together.

The park has been subjected to transformations since its creation for the Duc de Chartres in the late 1700's, though the initial spirit has been kept. Hence you can see a colonade, a pyramid, a bridge, a carousel, statues and rocks, etc.

What's more, it is surrounded by stunning "Hôtels Particuliers" (private mansions), so next time you're in Paris, if you need a little green, head towards Parc Monceau. In the summer, it is extremely popular with Parsisians as a place for a picnic! Enjoy!
