Pont de la Tournelle - Sainte Geneviève Statue

I love the Tournelle bridge that connects the Île Saint-Louis to the fifth arrondissement of Paris.

Historically, this spot of the Seine has been the measuring marker for the level of the river. It bears reminders of the rises of the Seine spanning centuries, even though the existing bridge was only built in the late 1920's.

Once you have crossed the bridge to the fifth district, if you keep walking straight, you will be headed towards the "Montagne Sainte-Geneviève". That's precisely Sainte-Genevève herself that is depicted on the statue. She is looking towards to east, protecting Paris from its many waves of invaders...
