Saint-Etienne du Mont Church near the Pantheon

One of the major landmarks in Paris is the Pantheon. Steps away from it, is a church called Saint-Etienne du Mont. If you head towards the Pantheon, you must take a few minutes to visit this church!

Built from the late 1400's to early 1600's, it mixes elements of Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. What is particularly notable here is the remaining "rood screen".

This type of structure, often made of wood, used to separate the priest from the people attending mass. Most of them have disappeared from churches in France.

This one has survived over time and it is simply amazing! Look at how it integrates the spiral staircases on both sides and the fine lace like design even though it is made of stone! Superb!
