Saint-Germain des Près Church is one of the jewels of Paris!

To begin, it is the oldest church site in the city: it was founded in 543 by Childebert, son of Clovis (who can be considered the very first King of the Franks).

As many other religious sites in Paris, the church has suffered damage from Viking invasions, wars, revolutions, etc. This past five years, the church has been undergoing major restoration.

The plan was to bring it back to how it looked after its previous restoration done from 1840 to 1870. The wall paintings and murals date back to that period while some of the stained glass are a thousands years old... Enjoy!
