Saint-Sulpice Fountain

Recently I was telling you about the Fountain of Peace built by Napoleon I which originally located in front of church Saint-Sulpice.

Half a century later, it was deemed too small in proportion of the church, so it was removed and a much larger fountain was built by Louis Visconti, architect of Napoleon III.

The fountain is decorated with the statues of four important bishops who lived during the reign of sun King Louis XIV: Bossuet ; Fénélon ; Fléchier and Massillon.

I always pass this church and its magnificent fountain during my American Founding Fathers in Paris Walk! My tour participants never fail to marvel at its magnificence!
