Alexander Hamilton’ Death - Duel with Aaron Burr
On 11 July, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr Junior engaged in a duel in Weekhawken, New Jersey. The next day, Hamilton would die as a result of the wound he received.
Duels were outlawed at that time, so the few people who attended agreed to turn their backs to the scene so they could not be prosecuted for being witnesses of a duel.
Alexander Hamilton had stated the night before he would aim so he would not kill Burr and that is apparently what happened. Sadly, Burr intended the opposite.
