Jean-Marie Boussard - Architect
A visual tribute to Jean-Marie Boussard, an unsung Architect who does not get enough recognition for his unusual creations. He was born on 7 Sept. 1844 in the Burgundy region and moved to Paris to study at the School of Fine Arts in the 1860's.
Boussard is mostly known in France for several post office buildings as he was the in-house architect for that government body. He also designed a few very interesting buildings in the early 1890's, which is the period when the Art Nouveau movement was just blossoming and while I would not necessarily describe his style as such, his experiments certainly reflect the creativity of that time.
Here are a few photos from a building at 45, Rue Ribera in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Notice the sculpture of a horse and figures above the entrance door.
