Conciergerie
The Conciergerie is a part of what used to be the “Palais de la Cité”, a building complex connecting the Kings of France’ residence to the administrative institutions from the fifth to the fourteenth century, starting with Philippe le Bel who built it.
The Conciergerie is unarguably one of the most imposing medieval landmarks in Paris.
It is however, mostly known as the place where Marie-Antoinette was last imprisoned before her execution during the French Revolution. Other key revolutionary figures such as Robespierre and Danton, experienced the same fate as the Queen. Definitely a place charged with history and worth visiting.
