Ecole Militaire - WWII Liberation of Paris
After four years of occupation from June 1940, Paris was liberated in August 1944. Nazi German troops were now under siege. The "Ecole Militaire" was one of the locations they used as a garrison.
The second armed division of General Leclerc made their way to Paris with the help of the « Forces Françaises de l’Intérieur » (French Resistance Fighters).
A testimony of the firing that took place around the Ecole militaire can be seen with this German book « decorated » with bullet holes! The cracked mirror is another witness of the event. To this day, it has never been repaired and will not be.
