Herman Goering Suicide
On 15 October 1946, Herman Goering (or Göring) commited suicide in his prison cell. Just two weeks before, he had been sentenced to death at the Nuremberg trials.
To this day, there is still uncertainty as to how he managed to get a cyanide pill: his body and cell were searched on a daily basis.
In 2005, an American man came forward and claimed he was the one who likely provided the poison. During the Nuremberg trials, he was 19 years old and was one of the guardians in the prison.
He had agreed to bring a pen and papers to the Nazi officer, believing at that time the pen actually contained a medication destined to soothe the prisoner's health.
Whatever the case may be, by commiting suicide, Goring managed to escape his death sentence...
