Hôtel Lalique - René Lalique' Townhouse
Last month, I was showing you the beautiful entrance door of the "Hôtel Lalique" (aka the Lalique private townhouse). Here is the façade of the building.
The glass door design and floral sculpture around the entrance reflect the Art Nouveau movement, for which René Lalique was a master glass-maker and jewelrer.
Interestingly, for the façade, the architect chose the neo gothic style with the slanted rooftop covering two floors. I found a black and white photo of the building, I think the absence of color reveals the dramatic aesthetics even more.
The ground floor was used as Lalique's showroom and workshop and the other floors for his personal use. It is located on Cours Albert 1er in the 8th arrondissement, not far from the "Flame de la Liberté". Enjoy!
