Kodawari Ramen II - Yokochō
I must have been Japanese in a past life... I just love Japanese food so much! I have been several times to Kodawari Tsukiji (the restaurant that looks like a fish market) located Rue de Richelieu on the right bank, I had to try the twin restaurant Kodawari Yokocho, Rue Mazarine on the left bank.
A Yokocho is place with a few tiny alleyways with plenty of Izakaya (small restaurants) that usually accomodate less than 10 people. The atmosphere is very friendly and often, groups of friends head to such neighborhoods to have a very affordable meal and lots of drinks. You hear everyone having a great time even though they are packed like sardines in a tincan...
Kodawari Yokocho has recreated that vibe in that location. I went with my good friend who loves Japanese food too and we had an amazing meal. Having been to Japan and my friend too, I can guarantee the flavors could not be more authentic! Amazing bang for the bucks, the only thing is they do not take reservations, so be prepared to queue to get in. They do however have a waiting list system.
Gochisosama deshita!
