Maginot Line Contruction before WWII
On 14 January 1930 the French Assembly voted to approve the contruction of the Maginot line. After WWI, the concern of another conflict led to the idea of protecting the borders between France and Germany.
The Maginot line was a network comprising of tunnels, observation decks, bunkers, and artillery weapons. Due to the friendly relationship with Belgium, there were fewer protective elements along the borders with that country.
The Maginot line didn't protect the Ardennes forrest due to the difficulty to construct anything in such terrain, what's more, the forrest was deemed impossible to cross for an army...
