Marquis de La Fayette - Passing

On 20th May 1834, La Fayette passed away in Paris after contracting pneumonia. He was 76 years old. His life was a roller coaster that few historical figures experienced!

La Fayette took part in the American Revolution and got to know the first seven Presidents of the United States as well as other Founding Fathers like Benjamin Franklin or Alexander Hamilton!

Then La Fayette took part in the 1st and 2nd French Revolutions. He crossed paths with Napoleon, five Kings of France, some royals of Europe, not to mention dancing with Marie-Antoinette and stepping on her toes! In hindsight, this may have been his first revolutionary act!
