The Marshall Plan for Europe
On 5 June 1947, General George Marshall presented his plan to help Europe return to normal economic health after WWII: « Our policy is not directed against any country, but against hunger, poverty, desperation and chaos. »
Within 5 years, the United States injected 12 billion dollars in the plan (equivalent to 10 times more today). Nearly half of this amount went to the United Kingdom and France alone. Let us not forget!
