Opéra Garnier Façade by JR (Artist)

Now does this look cool or what?! This was the cover up for the Opera Garnier in September 2023. The façade is getting renovated as many other Parisian landmarks for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Prior to this, the façade had a succession of paid advert and as per French legislation, monies goes towards the restoration works. But the current one is apparently purely artistic!

This is signed by an artist named JR and the scene represents the origin of Ballet and Opera. In ancient Greece, singing and dancing took place in grottos to celebrate the gods...

During the upcoming Heritage Days Weekends on 16 and 17 Sept., there will be light and sound projections of opera works on this façade which explains the black and white.
