Pont Neuf Bridge

On 31 May 1578, King Henri IV laid the first stone of the "Pont Neuf", the new bridge. It was the first one in Paris to be completely made with stone, previously wood was used or a combination of the two.

While it has been restored on some occasions, its design was never modified. For that reason, it is the oldest standing bridge in Paris.

It was also the very first one that did not have houses on top of it, all the other bridges supported rows of houses as you can see on the last picture!
