Princesse de Lamballe' Gruesome Death

The two ladies had been friends for many years. The Queen was known to be generous with her close girlfriends, showering them with lavish gifts, huge lumps of cash and even paying for their gambling debts.

As the King and Queen were imprisoned in the Temple prison, mobs killed the princesse de Lamballe and proceeded to cut her head off with a knife.

Then they walked towards the Temple prison and paraded the head on a pike right outside Marie-Antoinette's window... Considering the screaming that usually accompanied the mobs, the Queen very likely saw the gruesome sight...
