Réfectoire des Cordeliers - Cordeliers Club

"All things come to those who wait...". The joy of living in Paris is visiting places that are usually closed to the public.

Places that I've read about for years in my history books...

How many times have I passed the Réfectoire des Cordeliers and begged the guardian to let me enter to take a few photos? Thanks to an art event, it was open this week!

I imagined Danton, Marat, Camille Desmoulins entering this place and gathering with other members of their political group "Club des Cordeliers" and discussing revolutionary ideas!

Interestingly, in March 1794, exactly 230 years ago Danton and Desmoulins were arrested and executed... The Revolution ate its own children...
