The Saint James & Albany Hotel has a connection to a great historical figure that played a part in both the American Revolution and the French Revolution: La Fayette!
Formerly known as the Hôtel de Noailles, it was the private townhouse of the family who married their daughter Adrienne to the sixteen year old Marquis. The newlyweds lived under her parents’ roof until his departure for America.
During the French Revolution, members of Adrienne’s family were executed and their home was confiscated by the Revolutionary government, aka the “Convention”. The estate was divided into five parcels in 1830, and as a result, only a small fraction of the home has survived.
If you feel like treating yourself to a hotel during your next visit to Paris, why not stay there and feel the spirit of Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette!
