Saint-Louis en l'île Church

"Saint-Louis en l'île" Church is named after King Louis IX aka Saint-Louis and "l'île" refers of course to the "île Saint-Louis, one of the two islands in the center of Paris, named after the same King.

The church was built and modified over a hundred years spanning 17th and 18th century and ts decor evolved towards baroque elements, hence a rather rich decoration. The gilded motifs were added even later in the late 19th century.

Pope Pius VII celebrated a mass here early 1805, due to his journey to Paris for Napoleon's Coronation in December 1804. The church offers classical music concerts on a regular basis, where you will appreciate the beautiful sound of their organ.
