Standard Meter Bar Plaque
The Metric system! A real revolutionary invention implemented by the "Convention Nationale" during, you guessed it: the French Revolution!
When you find yourself on Place Vendôme, next to the Ritz hotel, is the Ministry of Justice. To the left of the entrance door, there is a marble plaque. This is one of the standard meter bar that were placed in the city from 1796 to 1799 so that Parisians could convert their measurements.
From a total of sixteen of these marbles plaques, only two of them are left in existence. I like how the last section of the meter also shows the ten centimetres... Now your country has no excuse for not using the Metric system!
