Temple Prison - Mairie 3rd Arrondissement
On 13 August 1792, King Louis XVI, Queen Marie-Antoinette and their children were imprisoned at the Temple prison.
The prison is gone, though if you'd like to know where it was, read on and head to "Temple" metro station near "République". Temple refers to the Knights Templars who followed and protected King Saint-Louis during the crusades. to the Holy land.
The Knights Templars were extremely wealthy and so powerful, they built a huge fortress within Paris. That fortress was so secure, it was the perfect prison for the royal couple.
