U.S. Embassador’s Residence in Paris

Lucky me with the second visit thanks to my friends Despina and Corey who have access to places that are closed to the majority... This time, we headed to the residence of the American Embassador in Paris: aka Hôtel de Pontalba (the Baroness of Pontalba is the lady in the black dress on a painting).

This was my first time ever visiting that place. It is no surprise the house is a beauty considering previous owners included the Rothschild family (is there a place in the world they never owned?). I was floored by some of the artwork: two original paintings of George Washington ; tapestries offered by King Louis XV, silverware from the British crown, etc...

Washington's painting above the sofa is by Charles Willson Peale who is one of three brothers who painted several American Founding Fathers and officers in Washington's Army. Thanks a million, Despina and Corey for giving me the opportunity to see that!
